Before solar:

Electricity comes solely from utility company

Monthly payments dependent on rising annual prices

Electricity comes mostly from fossil fuels, a damaging process to the environment, while using large storage and transportation space and efforts.

Once Solar System is Turned on

At the beginning of the connection of your solar energy system, your utility company will keep track of average system production and average electricity usage. This 12-month program is called Net Energy Metering (NEM).

Changes to Bill

Monthly utility statement includes the current running 12-month average.

If your system is correctly sized, this will result in an amount owed to you at the end of the 12-month period.

IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF A SOLAR SYSTEM TO MAKE THIS TRANSITION SIMPLE:

  • Accurate system sizing
  • Practice efficient energy usage
  • Completing Tax Form 5695 to gain financial benefits of owning an installed renewable energy source
